More on Church Shooting: Gays & Reading List

The two main links I am using for this post:

AND

His reading list included: O'Reilly, Michael Savage, and Sean Hannity

Ironically, I used to read and listen to all of these guys. Obviously this doesn't mean that they are to blame, but I thought it was interesting nonetheless.

Okay, You Guys Pick!

We had some controversial polls over the past months. So for the next topic I will write on, I'd like your input.

What should the topic be? (VOTE ON THE RIGHT--->)

Slow News: Let's just throw in some nonsense?

So I was on Youtube.com looking for funny skits and cartoons with Kyle and we found, what we believe to be, one of the most hilarious stick figure animation series ever.

It's called Stick Exodus. The first episode we saw was called "Hangman." Here it is:

You can watch all of the episodes if that made you happy... I think there are about 5 of them.

I might post some more stuff today if I can think of anything that might be worth your precious time.

9/11 Conspiracies to Kill Time

Okay, so I'm sure you have all read the articles, watched youtube videos, or seen movies that claim that 9/11 was an inside job.

At first I thought that was the most ridiculous thing I had ever heard. Why would we blow up our own buildings?

I've come to the following conclusion: I do not know exactly what happened.

The thermite issue, the temperatures required, the building 5 collapse that looked incredibly controlled... they all confuse me.

So I'm curious: What do you guys think?

Calories & Sex

This is funny: http://calorielab.com/news/2008/02/12/calories-burned-during-sex/

Dark Knight, Early Morning

So last night I went to the midnight showing of Dark Knight with about six of my friends. The movie is 2 hours and 40 minutes long.

I woke up at 7:20 a.m. today to go to work and still feel like the lack of sleep was worth it. Heath Ledger did really do a pretty amazing job as the Joker. Perhaps it adds to the creepiness because the whole time you watch him perform, you think, "wow, I just cannot believe that he is dead."

To clear up rumors for some of you who did not really pay attention, Heath died from an accidental drug overdose.

What I didn't like about the movie:

- Christian Bale: I think he sucks at being Batman. He has several corny lines and his raspy, forced voice gets annoying.

- It's LOOOONG: Probably a bit too long. For awhile it felt like they were dragging it out.

- Could have made the movie at least a little bit bloody, but I guess they wanted that more family friendly PG-13.

What I did like:

- "The Joker" was a great character, as expected.

- Some pretty sweet action scenes, original ideas, unexpected plot turns.

- They set you up for the next movie (I think). Who's ready for Two-Face versus Batman?

My Overall Rating: A

It could be because there are so many crappy movies coming out that this one stood out, but I'd definitely go see this one.

Aids Fundraiser: PLEASE READ

My friend George is going to run in the 2008 Chicago Marathon. He is doing it to raise money and awareness for the AIDS Foundation of Chicago. Here's his note:

Dearest Friends and Family,

You may want to be seated when I tell you this...but I, of non-athletic fame, will be running a MARATHON this year! That's right! I will be participating in the Chicago 2008 Marathon on October 12, 2008...running 26.2 miles! I am taking part in a six-month training program and I am running a little farther each week...in total I expect to log nearly 500 miles. It's all part of the National AIDS Marathon Training Program, which raises money for the AIDS Foundation of Chicago.

Despite recent advances in the treatment of AIDS, the epidemic is far from over. More than one million Americans, and 40 million others around the world, are now living with HIV. And the rate of AIDS in the Chicago Metropolitan area has jumped by more than 400% over the past decade.

The money raised from the AIDS Marathon Training Program will allow the AIDS Foundation of Chicago to fund direct medical care, food, housing, and other vital AIDS services — to help keep people with HIV/AIDS alive until there's a cure. This is why I am committed to raise at least $1,500 before Tuesday, July 15, 2008 (although of course I would like to raise lots more). I'm asking for your support.

I would be so grateful for any donation you can make to help me meet this goal. It's so easy to make a donation (so no excuses!), just click on the link to the left of this message. It only takes a few moments to make a contribution. Together, we can take pride in improving the lives of those suffering here in our community.

As you all can probably imagine, this is certainly the most physically challenging task I have ever attempted in my life - how am I going to give up my Saturday morning cartoons? But I am confident that with your support I can make it to the finish line. Thank you so much for supporting me in this huge undertaking. When I cross that Start Line on October 12, 2008 , with the roar of the crowds beside me, on my way to complete the marathon...I'll know that you helped me, and so many others, along the way.
With many thanks, George Pudlo

P.S. If you want to share this page with your friends and family (hint hint), after donating, you can click "Email this page to a friend" towards the top left-hand side of this page and this link will be sent to them.

Favre the Problem?: Perhaps

Brett Favre has been saying that he feels unwelcome upon asking to return to the Green Bay Packers. But what's the real story here?

I've heard Packer fans say that Favre is being ridiculous and I've heard others point the finger (most likely the middle one) at Ted Thompson. Well apparently Thompson already gave Favre a chance to come back in March.

All of Favre's wavering and indecision are hurting the organization. The Packers drafted players based on the fact that the star quarterback had retired. Now he wants to come back and his family and friends are making it look like the Packer's are being unreasonable. I hardly think so.

On Friday FOXSports.com released word that Thompson and McCarthy found out that Favre wanted to come back in late March, right after his retirement. At that point both Thomopson and McCarthy apparently gave the idea the thumbs up. Then, Favre, in all his glory, just days before they were to meet and make the announcement, decided that he wanted to remain in retirement.

It seems like Thompson and McCarthy will be taking the heat for a problem that manifested itself in Favre's own head. Look for Brett to be wearing a different jersey this coming season... well maybe.

Bush to Attend Opening Ceremony for Olympics

It has been rumored as of today that President Bush will be attending the opening ceremony for the Beijing Olympics.

Other leaders from around the globe have opted to not attend due to political disagreements with the Chinese government regarding Tibet and several other human rights violations. These leaders include: UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown and German chancellor Angela Merkel.

Some say that Bush's attendance is an endorsement of the Chinese government's wrongdoings. It will be interesting to see how this all pans out in the political realm.

Personally, I was curious as to why the Olympics ended up in Beijing China to begin with. I found some answers at THIS WEBSITE.

Summary of how the Olympic Committee selects cities:

Cities must apply and be approved before being evaluated. The cost just to apply for consideration is around $150,000 for the 2012 Olympics.

1) The city must prove that it is capable of handling such a large-scale event.
2) The city must convince its people that the cost of hosting the Olympics is worth-while
3) The city must be able to hold and maintain a positive image before and during the events.

I think that's the general idea. Have a happy 4th of July, try not to lose any fingers kids!
