The 1918 Swine Flu was a killer

The 1918 Swine Flu epidemic was more deadly than World War I.

The flu emerged in spring and then disappeared over summer only to come back mutated in full force in the late fall, coming back so strongly that it lowered the U.S. life expectancy by 10 years.

Okay, so that sounds scary. But we have better medicine now, right? Yes.

However, travel was nothing like it is now. Populations weren't as crowded and urban as they are now.

I'm not sure if I should be worried or turn off the news and go out to a gay bar.
